Coaster Project!

I have almost completed my Coaster project. I was super excited to make these cool coasters using scrapbooking paper and tile. The project is super easy and I think these in sets of 4 will make great Christmas gifts. I bought some fun yarn to tie each set and will put on a coordinating gift tag made with the extra paper. Yay for pre-Christmas craft time!
Coasters designs:
These patterns are my favorite!
I designed these with my sister in mind because she loves purple.
These are my "man" design.
These are the more traditional design with the black and white. The butterflies were chosen with my Grandma in mind, she loves them!
I will try to post some pictures of the completed, wrapped coasters.

Change Is In The Air!

Change is definately in the air....the leaves are turning, new jobs, a new city and now a new car! Thanks to my mom and Meredith for providing me with rides to make picking it up last weekend possible and to Hollie for helping me out last minute at the grocery. When I got to Nashville, Nick was sitting outside waiting on me, camera ready!

Rotiers

Last night Nick and I went on a date night to Rotier's Restaurant. The awesome thing is that this famous little dive is just down the street from us. We pass it all the time and so after hearing about the famous and award winning grilled cheeseburger on french bread, I had to add it to my list. We had a great time there, the atomsphere is my favorite part about this restaurant. The restaurant really has that relaxed local flare. We got to sit in a great booth in the back corner and had a delicious cheesburger on french bread with french fries. We also sampled the reuben and cole slaw. Here is a picture of the burger (no, not my acutal one).

The french bread is delicious and the burger had a really yummy grilled flavor. Overall, it was a great date night. Next time I am going to try their milkshakes!

Footloose!!!

I just purchased tickets to see Footloose on Friday!! I'm super excited to see the remake!

Battle of the Food Trucks

Hello! I wanted to tell everyone about a super fun event we attended yesterday, The Battle of the Food Trucks!! Karen, Katherine and Chandler also came along with me and Nick. Since I moved to Nashville, I have been wanting to try all the different food trucks here and this event was the perfect time. We bought tickets for $25 (all proceeds went to a local charity, The Tomorrow Fund) and got to taste yummy treats from each truck. We had so much food!!! Some of the tasty treats were Thai Quesadillas and Coconut Rice, White Bean Turkey Chili and Cornbread, Hot Chicken and Waffles, Pork Parfait with Mashed Potatoes and Baked Beans, Mini Cheeseburgers, Crab Cakes and Crab Bisque and Gourment Shrimp and Grits. And that's not all, because you can't forget about the sweets! We had cupcakes, homemade pumpkin spice whoopie pies, milkshakes (mine was vanilla with maple syrup), New Orleans style sno balls and homemade reese's type treats. It was super fun and the Gourmet Shrimp and Grits from Riff's Fine Street Foods won the top prize.

Here is a picture of the winning truck!

Guest Bedroom: Creating a Happy Place

I wanted to show everyone how my guest bedroom project turned out. This is one of my favorite rooms because my mom sewed the pillows for me and I picked out the wall color myself and painted it! The bedroom has a totally different feel now. Before I avoided this room and now I walk in just to take a peek! I wish I had a before picture but at least you can see it now!

I looked and looked for the right fabric and when I found the floral fabric in a store in Thomasville it just jumped out a me. I created the entire room design around this fabric. I found the lamps at TJ Maxx and I think they match perfect. The painting is one of my favorite things and it is painted by a local artist, Lisa Lanier.

I moved the mirror that was in my foyer to this room and I like it here so much better.

The Help

The Help is the best book I have read (ok, well heard) in a long time. I just loved it and am too excited to see a commercial for the upcoming movie! I am a member of audiobooks.com (thanks to Jill's good idea) which is just like Netflix for audiobooks. I am looking for new good reads, any ideas??
